    My computer is really slow after running fine for a year


    1 and a half years ago I custom built a PC and it has been running fine since, but now it is just slow all of a sudden. It started after I attempted to restart it once, which took ages, so I shut the PC down manually by the power button and booted up again. Now its just really slow. Opening applications is slow, using applications is slow, playing games is impossible. I don't see any significant uses in the graphics card, ram or cpu - could this be a virus? Do I need to reinstall windows I really don't want to.Some help would be appreciated.
