Windows 10: WINFR.

I have successfully used the Windows File Recovery utility WINFR to recover files from C: onto an SD card. However when I try to do this the other way around scan SD card J: and output results to C: the scan starts, shows 00% progress and then immediately returns to the command prompt with no further information. Syntax of the command --- winfr J: C: /extensive /n *world* ---- I was looking for files containing the string 'world' Can anyone help with scanning the SD card? Thanks

About winfr command to recover files from formatted hard drive

I use the winfr command with /r /x options to restore files from a formatted hard drive.

The lost files had been successfully restored, but the folder structure cannot be restored.

Is there any suggestion about this issue? Thanks,

When using the WinFR (Windows File Recovery) command line utility, I get 63,000 files recovered but only the TXT files can be opened by the app corresponding to the file extension recovered. Is this file recovery utility aware of compression and encryption?

The drive that was the Source of the recovery was an unlocked, BitLocker encrypted volume. I don't think Compress Files to Save Space was ever selected, but I'm not sure. I guess I'm concerned that if winfr is a very low level recovery utility, it might recover the chains of the files but not take care of the step to decrypt or decompress.

Further, I've already tried winfr and Recuva. Are there any other file recovery utilities known to recover deleted files on NTFS and BIt Locker volumes?

If the winfr method cannot recover the files and will not progress past 91%, it would be best to restart your PC, then try using some 3rd party recovery tool to try to undelete and recover those files.
