Windows 10: Windows Defender UI not working black screen + no tray icon

The image above is what Windows security UI looks like in Windows settings.The picture above is what it looks like if I click on open Windows security. The screen does not change it stays blank. It has popped up with a message saying contact an admin page is unavailable.The Windows security service is disabled and when I try to start it I can't it's greyed out.MsMpEng.exe is running but I can't use the UI also no system tray icon. I've tried a plethora of solutions. What should I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Remove windows defender icon from the tray on win 10

Hi Vaso,

To help you remove Windows Defender icon from your computer's system tray, you may follow these steps:

• Right-click taskbar, and then choose Settings.
  
• Under Notification area, click Select which icons appear on the taskbar.
  
• Turn off the Windows Defender notification icon.

Windows Defender Tray Icon

Having just updated Windows to version 1709 16299.19 the Icon for Defender is no longer there. Checked notifications and defender is not even listed.

In Task Manager start up there is just the word Windows and not defender ( see pic). So this new version of windows has messed up Defender in some way. Before the up date defender icon was in the system tray and now it's gone.
Anyone else having this with the 1709 up date?

 

Windows Defender Icon not appearing on system tray

I am a Windows 10 user. I uninstalled Norton AV after I received advise to do so from the Microsoft community experts. I did remove it and activated Windows Defender. But the windows defender
icon is not visible in the system tray. I tried various means. I am not an IT expert. So didn't succeed. Can someone suggest me a method using which the system tray would show the windows defender icon?

My concern is, Norton icon used to be seen and whenever there was an issue with system security, the icon would either turn red or appear with warning signs. That assisted me to work and resolve the issue.

I would want the windows defender to help me identify and warn. Please help. Thanks.
