  1. Start / Search / Settings / Edge Not Working After Newest W10 Update

Hi,I just installed a new update on my Windows 10 PC, and upon restarting multiple basic features won't work. The start button and search bar on the taskbar don't do anything and settings and Edge do not open. Trying to open them through the Run window returns an error that they can't be found. I tried SFC and DISM, the former said it found corrupted files but couldn't fix them and the latter didn't seem to work. A system reset also did not work, saying it couldn't find recovery environment. Despite all this, the file explorer still works. I don't know what update caused this as settings is br

    Hi,

I just installed a new update on my Windows 10 PC, and upon restarting multiple basic features won't work. I don't know what update caused this as settings is broken. If anyone else has experienced this, please let me know.

  3. Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region

I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
    Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

    1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
    2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
    3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.
    Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
    3. Select add someone else on this PC.
    4. Enter a user name and hit next.
    5. Click on Finish.
    6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.
    Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

  4. Start / Search / Settings / Edge Not Working After Newest W10 Update

Start Button and Search Not Working in W10

I keep having these problems myself after some windows updates in the past. I get fed up with Microsoft answering these problems with the same suggestion either create a new account and delete the old one (not happy doing it) or saying to run the following:

Type the following 4 commands at the CMD prompt:

      • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

      • sfc /scannow

      • powershell

      • Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
What I have found works in the past ( I had to do it today after updates) is to restore to a previous restore point. After I did this all was ok with edge, start menu and search on the taskbar (as I could not
do this either). I then checked for updates and there was a couple which I did and all is still ok. No doubt I will have to do this again and again until they sort out what the problem is but at least it works for me. Just need to sort out another problem
where I cannot see the "most used apps" and "recently added apps" even though they have been set to "on" in settings/personalization/start settings. I have 2 desktop PC's and this problem has never happened on the other PC. Hope this helps.
