Windows 10: Windows 11 Explorer after Update: Can no longer edit Star Ratings?

Hello,I work with a lot of media files and use Star Ratings from the file properties to keep my files organized or to tag them coming from MacOS I was disappointed that there is no real file-tagging system in Windows.After the latest Windows 11 Update I can still see my Ratings in Explorer as a column, but I can no longer edit them in the Details pane. How can I make Star Ratings visible again in the Explorer details pane for editing? It's very frustrating that a Windows Update removes functionality and kills my workflow. If there is no way to fix this I'll have to re-tag thousands of files.

Cani't Edit MP3 Star Rating Tag in File Explorer

Version: 21H2 A few days ago the option to edit the star rating of my MP3 files stopped working in File Explorer The option was still there, and it still allowed me to go through the steps of editing the rating. But after pressing the "Apply" and "OK" buttons, the rating disappeared. So this morning, before posting here about this problem, I tried one more time, and now the rating feature is working again. I suppose that an intermittent problem like this is probably next to impossible to diagnose and correct, but I'm curious to find out if anyone else has had the star rating feature Windows File Explorer behave so erratically like that.

 

Is star rating on certain files in Windows 11 Explorer no longer supported?

In Win 10 and previous versions of the OS a user could adjust the properties of certain media file types using Windows Explorer and set a "star rating". After upgrading to Win 11 from 10 these values are now read-only and do not appear to be editable any longer.

 

Please Fix Star Ratings For My MP3 Music Files!

I group all of my music according to the "global star ratings" in the details of the properties on my mp3 files. You could rate songs from 1-5 stars. Now, after updating to Windows 11, I can no longer edit star ratings. Music files that I've already rated no longer show gold colored stars, but text that says "5 stars" or whatever it was rated at. I can't open this rating box to change the number of stars, nor can I rate any new music files I add to my library. THIS SUX!!!! Please return to the old system and fix this, I am VERY disappointed with this change.
